The Shure boundary microphones are used for video conferencing in Hoffmann room. Remote interviews and dissertation defenses were previously conducted using the Yamaha 4-channel mixing board and the Shure wired goosenecks. These were unideal due to their high visibility and messy wires. Although the boundary mics are also wired, they are lower profile and fewer of them are needed. Larry White replaced the mixing board to provide phantom power and PC input signal without the need for AC power.
