The Digital Signage is a display in the Cabot Way vestibule that consists of two TVs showing output from two Mac Minis. It is used to display photo slideshows and a daily calendar of public events. The calendar is a Powerpoint presentation in full screen mode, produced every day by Anna Popiel and uploaded by Peter Stevens. The Mac Minis are on the wired network and have static IP addresses. The machines have no I/O, so they must be accessed by remote desktop, or by plugging in a keyboard and mouse.

Future plans

[edit | edit source]

Elizabeth Johnson finds the screens too imposing for the space, and has proposed replacing them with one vertical screen on a floor stand. Stevens has proposed replacing the daily Powerpoint file with a dedicated web page. This would make the daily routine for Popiel less technical, and it would save the time of connecting by remote desktop every day and change the Powerpoint.
